Overview

Our curriculum embraces an internationally recognized syllabus and we encourage our trainees to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them in academics, community service and other extracurricular activities. By mastering challenges both in and beyond the classroom, our trainees acquire the skills and experience to succeed at every level.

Procedures

I. Courses of study in the College:-

The College offers a two year courses, leading to B.Ed/M.Ed. Degree, with the following optional subjects / languages.

  1. English
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physical Science
  4. Natural Science
  5. Social Science
  6. Commerce

II. Mode of Selection:-

50% of B.Ed and M.Ed seats are filled on merit and remaining 50% will be management seats

III. Eligibility Requirements:-

B.Ed : The minimum mark for admission for B.Ed is 50%(CGPA of 2) in Bachlers Degree (Science / All Subjects) for part III or in aggregate of 50% marks in MSc/MCom

M.Ed : Eligibility for admission for M.Ed is 55% or CGPA of 2.2 in the B.Ed degree examination

  1. Candidates seeking admission on the basis of Part I and Part II marks of the Degree Examination, are eligible only if they hold P.G. Degree in the same language with not less than 50% marks. They will be ranked only after the candidates with the main subject.
  2. Those who opt for Social Science can have their qualifying degree in any of the following: – ie) Economics, History, Geography, Politics, Philosophy, Islamic History, Psychology, Sociology, Gandhian Studies.
  3. Application forms for admission can be had from the College office on payment of Rs.100/- by cash or Rs.125/- by regd. Post.
  4. Application should be supported by:
    1. attested copies of mark lists of B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. and M.A. / M.Sc. / M.Com.
    2. attested copies of Degree / Diploma / Provisional Certificate.
    3. attested copy of the first page of the S.S.L.C. Book. – all attested by a gazetted officer
  5. Late applications, incomplete applications and applications not supported  by necessary documents, will not be considered.
  6. Candidates invited for the interview will have to submit the following certificates in ORIGINAL at the time of interview. Admission will not be granted in the absence of any of these documents.
    1. Transfer Certificate from the college last attended.
    2. S.S.L.C Book
    3. B.A / B.S.c and M.A. /M.Sc. /M.Com. mark lists (Complete Set)
    4. Degree Diploma or Provisional Certificates.
    5. Relieving order (in the case of teachers / other employees)
    6. A recent Conduct Certificate from the college last attended.
    7. Eligibility Certificate for candidates from Mahatma Gandhi University in the case of graduates of universities outside Kerala.
    8. Migration Certificate for candidates from universities other than Mahatma Gandhi University, within the state or outside the state.
    9. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, O.E.C and O.B.C should submit Caste Certificate and Income Certificate from the Tahasildar and the Village Officer respectively.
    10. Three passport size photograph (with the names written at the back and enclosed in a plane envelop).

IV. If selected, the candidate will have to pay the fees prescribed by the Govt./ University         in the office and get admitted immediately. Fees once paid will not be refunded on         any account unless otherwise decided by the Management.

V. The orginal certificates submitted to the college office will be returned only after the       completion of the course. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep with them       sufficient number of attested copies of certificates for their use.

VI. The parent / guardian shall accompany the candidate at the time of admission.

The Labour India college of teacher education Marangattupilly, is meant for producing well-equiped teachers with the mission of forming a better India through hard labour. According to Sri. V. J. George Kulangara the founder of this institution, Education is the birth-right of every child who is born with immence potentialities. To him any kind of instruction should be a learner-centers activity, focusing on the child’s growth and development in four areas viz:physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual, which are the four pillars of education. It is with this vision and for this mission that he has established Labor India Schools of the ancient Indian Gurukulam system, amalgamated with modern educational techniques

History

What evolved from a dream to create a Labour India College of Teacher Education back in the year 2004, has emerged to be one of the premier educational institutions in India on par international standards. 

Labour India Public School & Junior College was founded by Mr. V. J. George Kulangara on 4th June 1993 in Marangattupilly, Kottayam Dt, Kerala, South India. His Guru (Teacher), the late Prof. K. M. Chandy, former Governor of Madhya Pradesh, India, inaugurated the school. ( www.gurukulam.com ) 

And from then on, there was no looking back. The Labour India college of teacher education at Labour India Hills has grown to become a model educational institute, embracing traditional values even as we impart an international educational curriculum. 

Affiliations

Labour India College of Teacher Education is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam http://www.mguniversity.edu/  . LICTE is offering B.Ed with intake 50 student  Courses are affiliated to NCTE[ National Council for Teacher Education , A statutory Body of the Government of India] Southern Regional Committee, Bangalore. The syllabi at the College are as per the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). The textbooks are those prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (N.C.E.R.T). ‘English’ is the medium of instruction.
